Porsche?s $100 million, 240,000-sq.-ft. North American Experience Center and Headquarters adjacent to Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport combines office, training and driving functions into one sleek, high-performance facility encapsulating the essence of their powerful brand. The building is sustainably designed to be as dynamic and timeless as Porsche, and to support their ?intelligent performance? philosophy.
Bringing together 450 Porsche employees from five divisions, the new multipurpose facility is the heart of Porsche?s #1 market worldwide (North America). By integrating a 1.6-mile dynamic driving track into the lower levels of the building and weaving in subtle motor-sport-related cues, the design immerses visitors in the Porsche experience.
Conveying a high-energy environment, exterior glass mirrors beautiful skies and airplanes traversing above. A simple palette of white and gray with exposed concrete, glass and metal allows for Porsche automobiles to sparkle as jewels of the space. Large glass windows, green terraces, internal bridges and differing volumes of space ? together with a suspended lobby over the driving track create a unique experience recalling the sensation of driving a Porsche.
Inside, partners, customers and car enthusiasts can visit the classic car gallery, restoration center, design studio, driving simulator lab, and dine at one of three cafes overlooking the outdoor test track. The contemporary, naturally illuminated office space encourages collaboration and creativity. A business center features state-of-the-art conference rooms and event spaces. The building also includes below-grade parking, an employee cafeteria, and fitness facility.
Various dynamic spaces throughout the building activate all levels and bind different segments into one strong Porsche experience and culture. Tying all programmatic elements together is a common ?Main Street? circulation system organized around a central courtyard and iconic stairs weaving through the building. Program adjacency are planned to promote interactions among employees, technical training students and visiting Porsche enthusiasts.
