Four seating areas cluster around an ‘X’ shaped turf runway on the roof of the former Dia building in Chelsea. The furniture, also X-shaped in plan, is built from pool noodles – the long, cylindrical foam flotation toys – that have been cut and bunched vertically into chaise and ottoman units of varying heights. All are oriented towards a screen for nighttime film viewings. Seen from above, the arrangement spells out the onomatopoeia ‘bluooopppp’ – the sound of liquid rising or sinking.
