The INSEP, located in the heart of the classified site of the Bois de Vincennes, brings together, over thirty hectares, the infrastructures dedicated to the preparation of Olympic teams and the training of national athletes and sports executives. Over time, the original composition of the site, following a focused and symmetrical sequence, was modified, notably by the construction of new buildings on the fringe of the land.
The sports pole project reduces this scatter to streamline the operation of the site and improve its ecological balance. The new sports hub is thus part of a desire for compactness: it brings together 4 disciplines under a single roof.
The old, scattered buildings, which had become useless, were demolished. Hundreds of trees have been replanted and the visual perspectives drawn by the historic traces of the Wood have been restored.
To integrate perfectly into the site, the building is unified by an envelope, such as a «tablecloth», composed of vertical wooden blades (Douglas pine), allowing light to filter and ensuring the ventilation of the facades.
