This project aims to establish a connection between the metaphorical essence of the Plasco Building and its urban environment. In essence, through a symbolic approach, it endeavors to provide a response to the building's history while addressing its day-to-day requirements in harmony with its surroundings.
The Plasco Building possesses metaphorical dimensions, ranging from its technical and optimistic inception at the time of its birth to its traumatic and painful destruction. This project strives to address both symbolic aspects: commemorating elements of modern building language, such as surface, shell, and column, and serving as a memorial to honor the martyrs of the fire incident. These elements seamlessly integrate with the urban and public space, as well as the commercial program of the project.
The building's structure comprises three primary sections: the underground part, housing parking lots and the main entrance; the middle part, transformed into an open urban space; and the enclosed part, accommodating commercial units. The entire structure is supported by sixteen columns, each bearing the name of one of the martyred firefighters. These columns not only bear the load of the building but also organize the empty middle section while defining the exterior design of the new Plasco.
Rather than concealing the wound, the new Plasco embraces it, aiming to internalize the sense of "incompleteness" as a perpetual part of this building’s identity.
