Our
proposal for the Ceramics of Italy exhibit emerges from the idea of the Italian
Piazza; a large open gathering space with gradual steps forming two mound-like
surfaces that provide different seating possibilities above, and occupiable programmed
service spaces below.
This
strategy allows us to extensively showcase Italian tile throughout the piazza
surfaces and create a subtle yet visually striking variation in color as the
height increases.
Piazza
Ceramica can be recreated in many different piazza-like configurations. The
proposal consists in producing one module and its mirror counterpart, which can
be combined and reused in multiple assemblies. For Piazza Ceramica 2012 our
proposed configuration provides a welcoming gesture at the most exposed
tram-way corner, inviting and guiding visitors into the open piazza space.
