Pfizer wanted to create a new best in class biotherapeutics, vaccines and gene medicines pharmaceutical sciences development laboratory and office site in the greater St Louis area. The new St. Louis Development Lab facility was an incredible opportunity to transform how Pfizer would carry forward biotherapeutics, vaccines and gene medicines for the next several decades. EwingCole collaborated with Clayco, Inc. and Lamar Johnson Collaborative to program, plan, and design the world-class Bioplace, a dual-purpose 285,000 square-foot R&D building. The unique design combines both research and development labs with office and meeting spaces to create one of the most progressive facilities in the pharma industry. A continuous lab concept, arranged in a u-shape, provides high-efficiency operations and maximum flexibility while the innovative prefabrication of key elements saved the project millions of dollars and shortened the schedule by three months.
