Brief: The brief was to create an attractive holiday and leisure development to enhance the ski resort of Alpe Furx, with a new hospitality building replacing the old hotel, and ten chalets. Realisation: The result is three groups of four buildings set around a central space.
Key planning/design requirements were careful treatment of the ground and the relationship between the structures, formal beauty and high amenity values. The siting of the main building below the chalets ensures clear views of the surrounding countryside. Features: The two-storey wooden chalets, which offer premium spatial configuration, are clad from top to bottom in larch shingles and feature a silver-fir interior with designer furniture in black-stained ash, and maple. These materials are echoed in the main building, where restaurant and terrace provide seating for 120 people.
