STATUS
Concept
The Peshawar Northern Bypass project by COOOP in partnership with the National Highway Authority is a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at addressing the growing transportation needs of Peshawar, Pakistan. Spanning 30 kilometers and with a substantial budget of PKR 9,003 million, the project is designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the region.

The bypass itself is meticulously planned as a four-lane divided facility, complete with service roads on both sides to facilitate smoother traffic flow and enhanced safety for commuters. This layout not only accommodates current traffic demands but also allows for future expansion and increased capacity as the city continues to grow.

One of the standout features of the project is its careful consideration of the local landscape and urban environment. As the bypass traverses through a mix of agricultural lands and built-up areas, COOOP's design approach prioritizes minimizing disruption to existing communities and preserving the natural environment.
In terms of engineering, the project incorporates advanced design principles to ensure the durability and longevity of the infrastructure. This includes the construction of robust bridges and strategically placed interchanges to efficiently manage traffic flow and reduce travel times for commuters.

Furthermore, COOOP emphasizes the concept of Design for Behavior, meaning that the infrastructure is not only functional but also designed to influence positive user behavior. This could include features such as pedestrian-friendly crossings, bicycle lanes, and efficient public transportation integration, promoting sustainable and safe travel options for all.

Overall, the Peshawar Northern Bypass project represents a holistic approach to infrastructure development, combining innovative engineering solutions with a keen focus on environmental sustainability and user-centric design principles to create a transport network that serves the needs of the community now and in the future.
