The Pavillon de Yoga is located in a wine-growing and vast wooded garden in Meursault. Dry stone walls and majestic oak, ash, and beech trees are what forms the environment at the site of the project. It establishes a rich and precious setting, which is what the architecture and the design draws inspiration from.
The architecture takes in use the main material of the site, wood, and pushes the use of this noble material from the structure to the finishes to offer a 100% wooden architecture project. The wooden components of this pavilion were manufactured in a factory and assembled "dry" on site. Placed on concrete studs and raised from the ground level, the structure is easily dismantled.
The architectural composition is intended to be simple, sober, and open to the lush wooden park in which it gives pride of place. The project fits smoothly into this peaceful setting conducive to the practice of yoga. The architecture is like the program: frugal and minimalist.
The volume of the pavilion represents a simple and functional geometry that reinterprets the vineyard hut and includes BioSource materials. It is covered by an aged wood railing on the outside and made of light wood on the inside. Thanks to its reasonable dimensions and the unity of the materials used, the pavilion blends harmoniously into its landscape.
Inside the atmosphere is warm. Here again, the wood and the landscape are accentuated. In contrast to the dark wooden façade, the interior wood finishes are kept in light, natural, and warm tones to inspire the practice and the ambiance of yoga.
The pavilion includes a yoga room, which can also be used for other activities such as judo, dance, and wrestling. The space also includes a changing area, a bathroom, as well as integrated wooden storage intended for mats and other necessary equipment.
The large glass façade opens up into the garden and lets nature into the heart of the pavilion. The covered room can then extend out to the terrace and into nature, as the project is intended for seasonal collective yoga practices. In summer and on sunny days, when the glass façade slides completely up, the design gives incentive to perform the practice of yoga outdoors, in harmony with nature and the majestic oak, ash and beech trees at site.
