The architects from Aranguren + Gallegos reformed the old cluster of Santo Tomas into a modern hotel for their client, Paradores de Turismo. The Parador, a luxury hotel is located 30 km away from Madrid, in Alcalá de Henares.
Standing out is the sculpted garden that allows light to enter to the lower floors and the central courtyard connecting the different parts of the hotel. Structural centerlines and façades have been preserved due to patrimonial protection, but adapted to the needs of the modern hotel.
Large corridors, large and cozy rooms, a spa, a restaurante, an inner patio were all part of the architects project.
The Parador Alcalá de Henares enjoys a privileged location in the home town of the famous spanish writter Miguel de Cervantes, autor of Don Quijote.
