In 2001, Ziger/Snead completed a master plan for the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound Program which serves students throughout the Mid-Atlantic from their base in Baltimore's Leakin Park. The program is currently housed in three historic buildings which serve a variety of purposes including office and meeting space, housing for seasonal staff and the storage of food and equipment.Phase One included a new building and renovations to the existing buildings where expeditions preparation takes place. It contains flexible office, meeting, and student support space and the packout facility where the camping gear is organized and maintained. The new building is intended to fit into its context historically, environmentally and programmatically, and is sited adjacent to the Carriage House in order to improve its function and to minimize its impact on the public space of the park.
