The new Rafaela Sapper Firefighters Detachment is part of a project that includes several stages and together they make up a service area for the NW sector of the city. It considers the land available between Av. Octavio Zobboli and collector street (entrance to the industrial area, both provincial and municipal), private property of the Industrial Park, as an enabling platform that constitutes in itself a public space with a high degree of representation, that together with the proposed building it gains value as an intervention on an urban scale; not only defining the northern entrance of the city but also giving institutional presence to one of the most important productive poles in the region.
The management of this project in its entirety is part of the initiative of private companies based in local industrial parks, under the coordination of the business union (CCIRR). The premise raised was to think of a building that, beyond its stage, has a unique and finished reading in each of its phases since the financing would come from public organizations, a condition that generally affects the continuity of the works according to the electoral cycles. In this sense, three modules with well-defined functions and a spatial volume according to them were proposed, articulated by public spaces, which in their different gradients act as connectors between blocks, generate pauses that allow expansions to the outside from the different activities at the same time that allow a visual permeability between Av. Zobboli and the collector street.
The building of the detachment itself is resolved in a single volume whose implementation prioritizes the fast link with the hierarchical road network that connects it with the industrial and sanitary area in an east-west direction, and with the residential sector in a north-south way. The project contemplates a spatial gradation that goes from a double height area where the fire truck garage is located, which is connected to the upper floor rooms. In it the alarm room and the fire department are located, both have a balcony over the garages and have a direct connection with them in an emergency. There is also the bedroom, wardrobe and bathroom. In turn, the ground floor is completed with a sector for medical emergencies, with an independent entrance.
Construction technology rescues the industrial language of the environment and its scale. In this way, the barracks are fully materialized with a metallic structure, its enclosures with a polyurethane foam sandwich panel with a metallic finish on both sides in order to reduce maintenance costs, assembly times and terminations. The interior rooms are structured from light partitions and the upstairs flooring is made up of a technical vinyl floor.
