The design process for the Orkideh building project in the northeast of Tehran (Lavizan) began, considering its unique location, which receives natural light from all four directions. To the north and west, it is surrounded by urban streets; to the south, it faces a courtyard; and to the east, it offers an open view towards a landscape park. The main request from the client was to maximize the efficient use of the building’s space, which led to the decision to divide each floor into two units.
Along with this, the challenge of providing parking spaces was added to the design. To optimize the arrangement of the parking spaces, the staircase core was extended toward the facade, making the stairs a prominent feature of the exterior. The facade was intentionally designed to be simple and minimalist to ensure that no contrast would arise between the form and function, while aligning with the design principles of the floor plan and the spatial layout. Every detail in the façade design was in harmony with our approach to the floor plan, prioritizing the interior space and human experience over the volume and form of the building.
