This is a project about an ophthalmology clinic situated in the ground floor of an excisting apartment building, in the corner of Vas. Olgas st. and Ploutonos st, in Thessaloniki.
Our task was to re design the two facades, the reception as well as the waiting room of the clinic.
We used white marble and glass, for the covering of the new facades. This was a major decision that changed dramatically the image of the ground floor and distinguished the clinic from its surroundings and attributed values of peacefulness, assurance and strength to it.
Inside, we used wooden wall coverings (oak), as well as black and white colors for the furniture and walls. The oak panels were sound absorbing and were used mainly to the reception hall for obvious reasons.
A lot of attention was given to exterior lighting. The client insisted on a spectacular night view of their clinic, so, we tried to illuminate the façade of the building and the materials that consist it in the best possible way. We put side outside lighting on the marble in order to mark its fine texture and color. On the other hand the glass was illuminated from the back in order to play the role of a light source.
