The area of Messoghia has been rapidly developing, partly due to the new Athens International Airport of Eleftherios Venizelos and the construction of Attiki Odos motorway as well as the suburban railroad. Areas that were traditionally focused on agricultural or tourist uses, like Spata, Kantza, Markopoulo, Porto Rafti, are now rapidly becoming urbanized and people from Athens move in to those areas. Spata is greatly favoured by all this, as it is essentially the centre of development. Both land value and population have increased exponentially in the last few years. Today Spata is 10’ away from Pallini and less than 15’ from Aghia Paraskevi, which used to be the outskirts of the city a few years ago. The infrastructures of the area for commercial, leisure and other uses cannot meet the needs of so many new people. These needs shall be met by the new SPATA EDUCATION and AMUSEMENT AND CENTRE. The park consists of a large indoor Aquarium, a shopping center and a multi cinema complex and it was designed to work as a whole along with the existing Attica Zoological Park.
