The exhibition Designing America. Spain’s imprint in the US was held at the Biblioteca Nacional of Spain, from 4 July to 12 October 2014. After Madrid, it has been traveling through different cities in the United States.
In this exhibition, the Spanish contribution in building the land, landscape, and cities in the United States is displayed from the first foundations to the present day.
This influence is mainly shown by the cartographic funds accumulated by the National Library of Spain, but there is also room for technology, always with an informative and rigorous approach.
On the walls, maps are displayed along with information panels that divide the contents of the exhibition thematically. The whole exhibition is distributed following a black line that runs along the wall perimeter and serves, as well, as a link between the different contents.
The exhibition has been organized by the Fundación Consejo España-Estados Unidos in collaboration with the Biblioteca Nacional de España.
