If... hometown can be described as a kind of "smell", what is your nose thinking when you see this question at this moment?
The so-called smell of hometown is actually a memory, comes from each person's unique perspective about their own belonging. People always think that where they are born, they should belong.
Life is constantly gathering and separating, the excitement and reluctantness are all intertwined in one place, that is the train station. Whatever leaving or coming hometown, the station always is the first step, and the station is a container to accommodate a spirit to reunite. The story of Nuanuanguowu begins at the train station.
The concept of this project is the station, in purpose to create an atmosphere and environment to reunite with family and friend.
The station roof in this space expresses a sense of safety, just like being wrapped. The half-wall wooden partition between the table and the table ensures a certain level of privacy and forms a reunion space between family and friends. The circular tubular chandelier is inspired by the handle of the old-fashioned train, it has the function of lighting and creates the atmosphere of immersion of the train station.
The space tone is gray and white, and the yellow cushions of the furniture are very eye-catching in the highly harmonious space, and at the same time yellow element create the overall warm and peaceful atmosphere of the interior.
As the saying goes, “The progress of art is to preserve order in changes and produce changes in order”. The unified form of the station house brings a sense of order in the space. The exposed ceiling with the pipes and the unified station house creates a strong contrast of chaos and unity.
The designer applied the various elements of the train station to bring the guests to the old immersion of the train station of Taiwan at that time. This is the so-called "Genius Loci." respecting the "Genius Loci" does not mean imitating the old-style, it brings a sense of identity to the space. Using a new way to interpret the meaning of the train station.
The wooden strip elements in the half-wall partition are derived from the private dining room to maximizing unity and functionality. The half-wall decoration design of wooden strips shows a strong sense of hierarchy and plays the role of protecting the wall. The Moru glass used on the doors and windows has satisfied both the privacy and transparency requirements.
This is different from the crowded hustle and bustle of hot pot restaurants we have seen. The atmosphere created by Nuannuanguowu is rest and tranquility, which makes people want to really sit down and taste the food, enjoy the reunion with family or friends. Nuannuanguowu is like a train carrying food and warmness, it carries more and more diners to the next station. Nuannuan Station carries the thoughts of generations of homesick modern youngers, is the first step into the hometown and the starting point for the reunion.
