NIPSTA is a combined fire, police, public works, and private industry practical training facility. Aside from NIPSTA’s 27 community members, it also provides training to communities as far north as Wisconsin and as far south as central Illinois. Students come to NIPSTA from throughout the country and it serves as a regional training site for the United States Department of Homeland Security. In 2005, this facility hosted President Bush, Secretary Ridge, and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley showcasing its regional first responder training capability. NIPSTA’s innovative facilities include an interior USAR training prop, extensive crime scene simulation, and evidence gathering facilities. Tactical design has been working with NIPSTA for the past three years and Mr. Enz originally programmed and master planned the facility over ten years.
Tactical Design has recently updated NIPSTA’s 10 year master plan for its campus, and is renovating several classrooms and providing several props.
