SVA were appointed in 2007 to do a conceptual design for a new head office for the National Oil Company of Ethiopia on a site they were in the process of acquiring. The initial scheme was conceptualized using an oil drop as the narrative. The building was to be designed with leading edge Green Strategy, Iconic value with state-of-the-art facilities. The design was conceived to feature a 20 Storey tower on a 4500m² site in downtown central Addis Ababa. Unfortunately, a deal on the land was never realised and a second site was purchased in 2017 considerably smaller than the previous site. SVA were again approached to undertake a new design on the new site. The project was completed in 2019 and is today the tallest structure in Addis Ababa.
