Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, on the rugged Pacfic coastline of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was completed in April 2019. WATG’s architecture and landscape architecture merge principles from Nobu’s Japanese roots with local Mexican inspiration to create a luxurious experience unique to the Cabo lifestyle. Recognized as a finalist in the Completed Buildings – Hotel and Leisure category of the 2019 World Architecture Festival, the hotel takes customers on a journey that is meticulously crafted with Japanese-inspired courtyards and Zen-like rock gardens that give way to panoramic views of the Pacific.
To make up for the lack of a swimmable beach on the property, WATG designed a variety of pool environments and water features incorporating local materials to bring elements of the sea to guests. This emphasis on a relaxed outdoor lifestyle not only sets Nobu Los Cabos apart for guests but also helps to drive operator revenue, as the gardens, pools and event lawns are immediately recognized as unrivaled amenities that add to the exceptional hospitality Nobu is known for.
Owner and operator, Paola Chapur of the AIC Hotel Group, says “the architecture on the property is the best we have, evoking relaxed simplicity and elegance. You get to the lobby and you instantly feel like you are on vacation – changing someone’s behavior with design. That’s a powerful thing.”
