NhEW, North house East West, is a conceptual prototype product for a
one room nomadic house. The prototype was built at full scale and
exhibited widely. A customizable and collapsible structure, the 6? x
10? x 7? hut is able to be assembled in a day and adapt to the nomad?s
need by rotating panels, fixing or opening panels and adding or
subtracting interior and exterior skins. Begun as a research project
for the Thule region of Greenland, the project is a response to the
changing needs of an ancient nomadic community and our contemporary
tendencies towards mobility.
