The new New Zealand Green Building Council Head Office headquarters is a showcase project manifesting the spirit of the organization, aimed at providing a drop-in center for members, as well as providing a space for lectures, events, training, and so on.
Designed to a strict budget, the fit out was achieved for around the same cost as a standard fit out for a small organization. The focus was on designing in elements that would pay for themselves in terms of energy saving costs, and providing a healthy working environment.
The offices were assessed under the Green Star independent rating system. Green Star is New Zealand’s independent rating system that assesses buildings’ environmental aspects across a number of categories. The offices were ultimately certified by the New Zealand Green Building Council, but assessed under the same strict process by two independent assessors and an independent chair, who coordinated the assessment meetings.
New Zealand Green Building Council offices were certified 5 Green Stars under the Interiors rating in April 2015.
