The company Gramenz, founded in 1957, is one of the leading horticulture and landscaping companies in the Rhine-Main area. Large-scale landscaping projects as well as private gardens and the entire range of garden maintenance services are part of their business profile.
The new office building is on the edge of Wiesbaden, surrounded by agricultural fields. A simple building with a monopitch roof, the design language blends perfectly with the surrounding agricultural structures and the existing company buildings. As well as offices, the building houses a large sub-divisible conference room and the reception and exhibition hall.
The building has been greened inside and out:
The monopitch roof has a solar green roof.
The façade has been planted with wild vines, which will cover the entire area over the years. A partial wire system serves as a trellis.
The reception and exhibition hall has been planted with trees and a façade greening system installed on the walls, creating a vertical indoor garden.
The greening helps to prevent overheating in summer and significantly reduces the need for air conditioning. The wide variety of plants also helps to establish a microclimate, absorb CO2 and dust, and promote species diversity.
The building is heated using biomass, while the ideally aligned photovoltaic system on the roof covers the majority of the building's electricity needs for lighting, IT and air conditioning.
