The new bridge over the Pora stream is conceived as a physical, environmental, and receptive expression of the territory of Finale Ligure. The ambition pursued is to create a bridge that serves the community and the landscape, reflecting through its forms the identity and complexity of the place, the dialogue with the orographic-hydraulic context, and the synergy with the transformation of local traffic. All of this is achieved without renouncing its role as an icon within the urban and hospitality system of the city. The formal language, with a strong resemblance to the orographic and tectonic landscape of the surrounding mountains, represents the fusion between the functional character of the structure and the inclusive aspect of accessible hospitality.
The bridge integrates into the site’s altimetric and orographic complexity through an organic design, deriving its aesthetic grammar from the forms of the orography, the essence of cycling and hiking trails, and the native colors of local structures, such as the pitched roofs of private houses and historical public buildings.
A very fluid organic shell, with varying geometries, allows light to reveal the shape in a dynamic, progressive, and mutable play that continuously renews with the diurnal and seasonal solar cycle. The single-span design gives lightness to a simple and clean structure composed of a single uninterrupted arch.
