Starting from the predefined materials to be used in the structures and in shading and sealing elements, namely steel and natural bamboo, due to their local availability and reduced cost, the projects were designed to combine them into a modular configuration, allowing for easy and fast execution.
The building housing the store and cafés features a metal structure. In plan, seven 5m spans in the longitudinal direction and two 6.5m spans in the transverse direction form a 5×6.5m module, guiding the organization of spaces. The structure, painted white, contrasts with the natural bamboo, which is used in the ceiling, the access doors to the store, and the brise-soleils.
The Gastronomic Village buildings, housing food-related operations, follow the same materiality as the store and cafés. However, the structural spans differ, creating 4x8m modules. The design of the beams spanning the 8m spaces also differs, utilizing flat triangular trusses for support.
The Beer Bar stands out for its exclusive use of bamboo as a structural element. The entire structure is formed by triangles, which constitute both beams and pillars, creating a cohesive and extremely light structural ensemble that connects to the ground without touching it, supported by rebar embedded in small concrete bases.
The rationality applied in the choice of structures and construction processes was associated with the “beach atmosphere” intended for the village by the festival’s creators through the use of natural bamboo. Finally, the Store and Cafés, Gastronomic Village, and Beer Bar, located around a plaza welcoming visitors, are connected by their materials and scale, maintaining a human dimension that defines the architecture and urbanism of this modern city.
