As part of ABA’s on-going work for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, ABA renovated the Behrakis Wing for the Ancient World in the Museum’s main building constructed in 1909. The first phase of work included a new gallery, the Michael C. Ruettgers Coin Gallery.
The 900 sf gallery includes new mechanical, electrical, fire protection and security systems in a temperature controlled environment.
Display cases showcase 500 ancient Greek and Roman coins, establishing the first gallery dedicated to coins at a major United States museum. ABA coordinated its work with curators, Museum Staff, and conservators for this first presentation of these collections in a new format and setting.
Additionally, ABA completed the renovation of the Homer, Theater and Dionysus galleries, also located in the Behrakis Wing.
