Benimaclet Multipurpose Center is formed by a set of 3 buildings, created for the following purposes: Head office of Unit 6 of the Local Police of Valencia, Activity center for adults and Workshop for the young people. We present a simple comb-like scheme, with four pieces facing south and a long elevated piece that crosses them and threads them together, in line to Emilio Baró street. Under it, access to each piece and its corresponding courtyard is achieved.A concrete wall makes the closure to Alfahuir avenue. This wall protects from westerly winds and the vibrant sound of traffic, drawing a continuous façade canvas over which the tops of trees can be seen as a backdrop to life in the city. The south part is the senior citizen’s center, with a courtyard that will connect it to the adjoining future health center. The next block is the Workshop school, open to the courtyard and using part of the raised part. The last two parts lay out the local police programme, conclude the raised piece that gives urban sense to the neighbourhood. The courtyards allow the sea breeze to enter the whole building, as the spaces of use are south facing, improving the temperature gradient between north and south façades, optimizing cross ventilation of the building. Using a prefabricated building system of hollow core flagstones, metal structure and concrete panels, we are able to reduce the deadlines and processes of the work, as well as having greater control and quality of finishes.
