Montréal-Trudeau Airport, until now considered a mere transit point, will soon be transformed into a unique and meaningful experience of openness toward the world – thanks to the brilliance of our transdisciplinary team of airport specialists, landscape architects and urban designers, who delivered the spectacular reimagining and expansion proposal adopted for the iconic complex. The new threshold to Montreal will evoke movement and fluidity as it facilitates the movement of millions of visitors. It will leave its own indelible impression on travelers’ imaginations, like a passport stamp attesting to their visit.
Montréal-Trudeau’s original blue façade, with its Montreal sign, is an emblem for the cosmopolitan city and will be protected by a glass skin, in turn translucent and transparent.
This “Cloud” will settle delicately on the green and vegetated structure carpeting the roof of a new parking area. The exceptional design of this landscape layer adds immeasurable depth to an already warm welcome, with cut-outs filtering natural light and offering stunning views of the St. Lawrence River. The parkade will be embraced by an open, vertical structure reminiscent of the land’s breathtaking northern forests.
Our team proposed a design approach that would showcase a visionary people open to the world in all its diversity. This place of emotional hellos and goodbyes will soon enhance today’s visitor experience as it meets the needs of future generations.
