The client – both husband and wife are one of the most prestigious and well-established Gynaec Doctors of Ahmedabad practicing for over 25 years. After successfully designing the Hospital of the client before 15 years, the satisfaction provided led them to approach us again for designing a huge multi-specialty hospital at one of the prime locations of Ahmedabad. The hospital was to be designed with utmost facilities and soothing timeless interiors.
It was going to be an uphill climb to accommodate a bunch of requirements in the space of 5,000 sq. ft. The necessities include:
a. A large Waiting Area with Reception accommodating atleast 25 people.
b. 4 no. of OPD Rooms
c. 7 Special Rooms
d. A General Ward
e. Operation Theatre with the space for its relevant activities.
f. A Medical Store
g. A Laboratory
h. A Nursing Station
i. A Labour Room
j. A Utility Area
The most important aspect of planning to accommodate all the requirements was ZONING. It was important to keep the unhindered flow of the outdoor patients without eliminating the privacy of the indoor patients and the doctors. The movement of the doctors inside the space, stretcher’s movement, Connection between the OT and the Labor room, and many more was to be kept in mind. Putting up all of these, in a mere floor plate of 5,000 sq. ft. was challenging for us.
As an architect, we studied every activity of the patients, the problems that the doctors faces, the needs and the comfort for the doctors, the flow of the nursing staffs within the spaces, and many more. So, we tried to justify all the above mentioned aspects.
For the same, we bifurcated all the activities as per the Zonings as:
a. OPD
b. Patient’s Rooms
c. OT and relevant activities
The reception and waiting area is designed with luxurious yet soothing interiors to depict the professional persona of the client. It is an elegant yet quiet space with warm ambience that makes the patients feel calm. To maintain the privacy of the OPDs, the reception and waiting area is been separated with a buffer space.
Each consultation room is designed in the zone that permeates the natural light through the window openings and keeps it ventilated. The high end modern equipment in the rooms adds comfort to the space.
The minimal and simple interiors of the indoor zone make the patients feel homely in the space. The passage in this zone creates an impact like an international multi-specialty hospital. The purposeful placement of the Laboratory and the Medical store adds convenience for the patients to visit. The OT and Labor room is provided with the utmost facilities and high-end equipment.
To sum up all, this modern hospital interior design fulfills all the aspects that a multi-specialty hospital should have and that too without eliminating a single requirement of the client. As a result, the client was extremely joyful and satisfied with the work and we consider it the real success of the Project.
