The Miramonti Hotel was founded in 1932 as a small guest house that hung on the side of the mountain range above Meran, Soth Tyrol. Twenty years later it was completely renovated and became part of the Michelin guide, thanks to its wonderful view. When Klaus and Carmen, the current owners, decided to buy it in 2012, the hotel still had a certain prestige, but needed some changes to bring it up to modern standards. Hence, transforming it into what they had in mind: an exquisite Boutique Hotel, meaning exclusive high-quality accommodation with unique and unmistakable character, managed directly by its owners. Thus they decided to hold a competition to build a wellness centre and additional rooms. The solution proposed by tara convinced them immediately. Firstly, because the new building included did not devalue the preexisting one, but rather it took up the structure of its pitched roofs. This aspect was very important because the owners were not interested in working on the existing immediately. Secondly, their concept interpreted the special characteristics of the place to emphasise them. Thereby proposing unique and surprising solutions, such as the iconic infinity pool, overhanging the valley.
