Since downtown’s Fargo Mercantile Co. building was demolished in 1966, its wholesale grocer site has hosted countless other endeavors, including Goodyear Service Center’s 1968 garage which later welcomed a pop-up food truck park, theater, art gallery and Red River Market to name a few. Today, JLG and Kilbourne Group have given the prominent Broadway corner new life for the next generation in a newly constructed lifestyle living center with pet-friendly convenience and accessibility spanning all six floors. Overlooking Broadway, the team reactivated the Mercantile’s 1909 character within walkable residential, an automated parking ramp, and premium retail space for streetside amenities. Inside, residents enjoy historic character with modern amenities, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a well-appointed Club Room with adjoining rooftop patio for entertaining amid spectacular downtown views. While honoring the history of the site, JLG and Kilbourne Group leveraged The Mercantile’s proximity to more than 100 local destinations at the heart of the city — elevating everyday living for a more vibrant downtown.
