In developing the Memorial Hospital of Ankara, the architects had a difficult time as the structure was originally planned as an office complex. First, we redeveloped all of the stairs, shafts, entrances, exits, and circulation sections that could not be used in the new design. We then constructed the tower plans adhering to strict medical planning regulations and project management to finalize the project. Next, we created patient rooms, clinics, and corridors according to our newly conceived conceptual design.
In terms of concept, the entrances, elevators, stairs, and other functions are thematically guided in horizontal circulations. The circular theme is also traced on the ceiling, as well as linear guiding in diffusions between different user spaces. Sterile materials on floor coverings and walls have been fitted with geometric materials, matching the ceiling patterns, and electrical and mechanical devices that also fit into the circular motif.
In these attentive details and materials, supported with graphics, we aimed to create a visually rewarding space for patients. Thus, patients come to the hospital to receive the best services in a harmonious, aesthetically pleasing, and relaxing environment.
