The Mayukwayukwa Community Center Zambia is intended to serve as a farming and agricultural training center for refugees arriving from surrounding areas. The center has three classrooms, a multipurpose room, volunteer sleeping quarters, and a training kitchen. To create a private and intimate open space for community gathering activities, program spaces are arranged around the central courtyard. Construction is done with locally available materials such as wood, tin sheets, and natural stones. All occupied spaces benefit from maximum cross ventilation in the central courtyard. Power is generated by a small solar panel system, and rainwater is collected for toilet flushing and irrigation.
