Built as an annex to the existing Kyabirwa Surgical Facility; the new facility provides overnight stay ward, state of the art medical laboratory and staff support facilities. Secondary protective roof of the building is designed to collect rainwater, facilitates ventilation air movement and resembles the famous rapids of nearby Nile river. Building is cladded with locally made clay tiles, steel is fabricated by local ironworkers and local skilled and unskilled labor is used for the construction. New building relies on the existing Surgical Center solar array for primary and backup electrical power.
