In an effort to maintain the nature around a developing town and to prevent the sprawling crawl of concrete jungle, it is essential to group diverse activities in the town into a building, more so to mix them vertically. Located at in the town centre of Sitiawan, Perak State of Malaysia, this 17-storey commercial mixed-development that consists of a hotel, an event space, an indoor theme park, 4-storey office, car park and 4 sky parks aspires to achieve this. Vibrant towns require a diverse mix of users, bringing different types of activities to spaces at all times throughout the day. We crafted the building to achieve this 'town effect' by mixing different functions within a hybrid building, where multiple uses are not only mixed together, but interact with each other and enrich each other in innovative, unexpected, and exciting ways.
Mimicking the sea 10 km away from the town centre, the wavy sun-shading panels are the prominent feature of architecture. The undulating lines continue to the interior of the building evoke dynamic vibe throughout. They express the colourful activities within and the exciting future of Sitiawan the building represents.
Boosting a huge sky park with a swimming pool and 3 other sky parks at different levels, the tower celebrate elevated outdoor spaces as the spaces to breakaway, to enjoy the spectacular Sitiawan town aerial view & sea view at the horizon. They also serve to link all activities within the building. The hotel rooms & the 'extroverted' office will enjoy both these views together with the immediate sky parks views at different levels.
Except the roof top park, all sky parks are accessible by the public.
The plants & water at the sky parks serve as tiny steps to add back green footprints to the site. In this case, the building is a real part of the town, while the town becomes an integral part of the users’ experience in the building.
