When we began designing Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, one of our key objectives was to ensure it complemented the iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. We aimed to create a design that not only respected this renowned landmark but also completed and enhanced the trilogy of hotels, which includes Jumeirah Beach Hotel.
Our first step was to determine the narrative we wanted our design to convey. We carefully studied the Jumeirah hotels along the beachfront to ensure that our story would integrate seamlessly with the existing resorts. This led us to conceptualise a design narrative that begins at Madinat Jumeirah and culminates at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, reflecting a journey through time in architectural expression.
The narrative illustrates the evolution of design, starting with the traditional architecture of Jumeirah Al Qasr and Jumeirah Mina Al Salam, transitioning through the classic design of Jumeirah Al Naseem, and moving into the modern era with Jumeirah Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel. The story reaches its conclusion at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, where we explore the future of design through its futuristic, yet sinuous architecture.
The site played a pivotal role in shaping the vision. We wanted to create a resort that responds not just to its immediate surroundings but the entire evolution of Jumeirah beachfront hospitality offerings. Our first step was to determine the narrative we wanted our design to convey. The design of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab focuses on elevating the guest journey, weaving together a sense of luxury and exclusivity through carefully crafted architectural features and sensory experiences. One of the most unique aspects of this project is the striking arch under the hotel, which redefines the entire guest drop-off experience. Unlike traditional hotels where guests are dropped off behind the building or enter without an immediate sense of place, our design ensures that the moment guests arrive, they are greeted with a breathtaking view as the arch frames the iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. This creates an immediate sense of awe, signalling the beginning of a remarkable design journey.
The fluted soffit beneath the arch is gently lit in the evening, creating a warm and inviting ambiance that adds to the drama of the architecture while highlighting the elegance of the space. When you enter the lobby, the journey continues with a seamless flow that evokes the sensation of moving toward the bow of a yacht. This undulating path from the lobby extends through multiple bars and restaurants, each offering distinct atmospheres and designed to immerse guests in a variety of sensual and visual experiences. The resort’s landscape has been thoughtfully curated to provide diverse settings, creating opportunities for guests to engage with different environments, from serene garden walks to vibrant dining terraces.
The resort also features terraces with pools that offer 270-degree views of the ocean, enhancing the feeling of being surrounded by the sea. This integration of views and experiences is central to our design philosophy, ensuring that every moment feels connected to the ocean. Together, these elements contribute to a luxurious, immersive environment that celebrates the surrounding landscape and delivers an unforgettable experience for every guest.
Guests can expect an unparalleled luxury experience that redefines hospitality. From the moment they arrive they are enveloped in a world where architecture, nature and service converge to create something beautiful. Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab offers a series of unique spaces, each designed to evoke different emotions. The seamless integration of indoor to outdoor spaces ensures that guests always feel connected to the sea and the surrounding landscape. With a collection of world-class restaurants, wellness facilities, and exclusive private residences, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab offers a holistic luxury experience that caters to every aspect of refined living.
Sustainability is deeply embedded in the design of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. Continuous balconies provide natural shading, reducing cooling loads by up to 40%. Low-energy recovery systems and LED lighting minimise energy consumption, while greywater recycling supports irrigation. Additionally, landscaped roofs reduce the heat island effect and enhance the resort’s connection to its natural surroundings. These measures reflect our commitment to creating architecture that is environmentally conscious without compromising luxury.
