The Marist College campus draws on Hudson River traditions of well-crafted stone buildings and dramatic vistas. This distinguished liberal arts college has commissioned a new center for its School of Management and School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, both supporting robust programs that enroll more than 500 students.
The four-story, 107,000 SF building is set in an open landscape, with expanses of glass and stone and a penthouse with broad river views. The new structure incorporates portions of the existing 1990s Dyson Center, preserving resources and limiting the new footprint.
While supporting specific programs, the design also offers common ground for the college community. A central oak-lined atrium connects four levels of program spaces, including a café, the Career Center, the Investment Center, a STEM classroom, a mock courtroom, a lecture hall, and open collaborative settings. Workplace for 100 faculty and administrators is companioned with 30 classrooms and seminar spaces designed to meet changing spatial needs in balance with the cultivation of a strong community.
