''Making Perception”is the theme of Emerge Architects project review exhibition, which elaborates how space is a vessel of life and the perception to life and space is the key issues to be taken into account in the projects done by the architect firm. Thus, the curation and design of the exhibition also stress on how to make people perceive the space, nature and social interaction through their own perception literally. ‘Perception’ is related to the external configuration, spatial performance, tectonic materiality and functions. The continuous handling of the interface in between these aspects is spatial design. Therefore, the spatial design is not about styling, but a series of ‘perception’ making and experiencing.
The Micro-Landscape of The Space
- The display furniture strewn at random discretion generate an abstract micro-landscape, which represent the landscape feature of mountain, ocean waves and clouds.
- Through the variated display height, the body interaction is generated. People sit, look up, kneel, gaze or meander. In words, the perception experience from the body is strengthened through these interactive behaviors.
The Adaptivity of Perception in Space Scaling
- The hung curve ceiling curtains adapts the perception of people to height of the space while walking underneath those curtains.
- The horizontally visual presentation of drawing contents and the curve ceiling curtains have delivered a visual contrast.
- The precisely and rationally drawn construction detail drawings printed on the light and soft papers as ceiling curtain is a poetic combination representing the qualitative contrast and contradiction in design.
The Making over of the Way to Read
- Standing out from the conventional architecture exhibition, the drawings, photographs and models of projects are main categories in zoning the exhibition venue.
- The corners defined by the string curtains is an extracted secondary space in the micro-landscape, which bring the perception to the layers and ambience of space to another level as well as demonstrates how boundary of internal and external spaces are blurred.
- Using the dynamic change in light and shadow to bring out the perception to tension in the exhibition space.
The exhibition space is a micro universe defined by the perceptional experiences to the independent interior landscape.
