This project attempts to integrate "unconventional" spaces into "ordinary" spaces, using the runway as the main framework to transform small dining spaces into prototypes. The consumption scenarios of the new generation are no longer confined to physical spaces, with various online showcases becoming crucial pathways for people to visit restaurants. Those who come to dine are both diners and models, where each consumption act serves as both a meal-seeking action and a stage for self-expression. The popularity of viral trends and photo spots has gradually become a key factor determining the success of a restaurant beyond the food itself, and this is an important aspect where designers can add value to commercial spaces.
The restaurant name "Le Shengdu" is inspired by the city of Vice in the game GTA, embodying both darkness and brightness in its essence. The overall color scheme of the space is dominated by black, accented with pink. The store layout features a narrow entrance and deep interior, creating conditions suitable for a modern runway design. We opened the entrance and tightened it inward to form a trumpet shape, maximizing the display area while positioning the higher kitchen on either side of the lower dining area, hinting at the spatial prototype of a former food truck. The open kitchen design integrates food aromas with the space, allowing diners to experience spatial changes and observe the food preparation process while waiting for their orders. At the end of the "runway," a light sculpture was designed as the visual focal point, transforming the entire indoor light field into a backlight surface. The use of matte stainless steel and black mirrors not only enriches the visual hierarchy but also adds an air of mystery and sci-fi ambiance.
