The project aspires to be a responsible family home, with a ‘zero-carbon’ energy target, extensive use of local materials and a low-impact form, which is respectful of its neighbours and surroundings, whilst allowing its users to enjoy the stunning location.
In addition, the building has been designed as a demonstration project for best environmental practice - not only for active sustainable technologies, such as the integrated photovoltaic cells and whole-house MVHR system, but for the incorporation of low-energy construction techniques, such as super insulation, natural purge ventilation and passive solar control.
Finally, the landscape strategy is designed to be implemented without adverse ecological impact, indeed it provides ecological enhancement for a number of species of nature conservation importance, in accordance with both local and national policies.
