The project involves the restoration of the Barchessa Fini, a 16th-century building that underwent significant alterations in the 1920s and after World War II. Currently the seat of the Municipality of Limena, the aim of the project is to make the building accessible to the public, with the new home of the Municipal Library.
The intervention includes an important structural consolidation work, both on the vertical structures and the floors, with a restoration of the internal spaces and the façades.
The new internal layout of the building preserves the main vertical elements, even though they have been heavily altered over time, and removes the partition walls that are clearly identifiable as additions, in order to establish a clear internal path.
The ground floor is dedicated to reception and distribution functions, with the inclusion of some functional rooms for the archive. The first floor is dedicated to services, the archive, and a reading room for magazines and newspapers. The attic floor is designated for reading and study. A centrally located staircase connects the three spaces, allowing for easy circulation.
The project also includes the enhancement of the exterior walkways of the Barchessa to improve accessibility.
