The project "Les Jardins de Verchant" consists of 138 dwellings on the edge of the park overlooking the Verchant estate. It is part of a well-thought-out and well-planned urban context, in harmony with the guiding principles of the Eureka district. The meticulous urban planning work carried out to define this neighbourhood has clearly defined the intentions of composition, scale and relationships between the built environment and the landscape, as well as between public space and buildings.
From this perspective, the project fully embraces this search for balance and simplicity of composition, seeking to create a harmonious symbiosis between architecture and the surrounding nature. The project takes place as an "urban ecotone", a transition between city life and the tranquility of the park, through a central garden. This garden is not just a green space, but a place of conviviality, encounters and connections between the inhabitants around which the different built entities take place. It takes place as an island of freshness proper to the built ensemble. In addition, each apartment has a generous exterior extension allowing both to create a filter in the high heat of summer, but also to fully live outdoors while being protected.
However, our approach goes beyond simply integrating into the whole. We seize this opportunity to individualize each component of the project, giving it programmatic specificities and distinct materials, while preserving the integrity and architectural unity of the residential complex. For this reason, two architectural firms were invited to work on the whole project
Les Jardins de Verchant stands not only as an innovative response to contemporary housing needs, but also as a tribute to the Mediterranean art of urban living that is balanced and respectful of its environment, in line with the urban aspirations of the Eureka district.
