Located within the prestigious Lagos del Norte gated community in the Province of Buenos Aires, Casa LDN is a 305-square-meter single-family residence designed by our studio in collaboration with architect María Strada. Conceived for a couple and their three children, the house responds to a lifestyle centered around both family gatherings and frequent social events, placing special emphasis on the home's communal spaces.
The project emerged primarily as a response to the site's western orientation. To mitigate the intense summer heat while enhancing outdoor living, an intermediate courtyard was introduced between the main social areas and the gallery. This shaded outdoor space allows the family to comfortably enjoy summer afternoons and becomes the central organizing element of the house.
The courtyard acts as a natural extension of the living room, dining room, and kitchen, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. Reinforcing this concept, a second courtyard was incorporated at the entrance, creating a gradual transition from the outdoors and visually extending the public areas of the home. The presence of vegetation throughout these spaces strengthens the connection between architecture and landscape, bringing greenery deep into the interior environment.
Sustainability was a key consideration throughout the design and construction process. The house features cavity walls that improve thermal insulation, strategically designed cross ventilation, and high-performance PVC windows with double glazing. Together, these elements contribute to greater energy efficiency and year-round comfort.
Casa LDN exemplifies our studio's design philosophy: carefully responding to our clients' needs while enriching everyday living through spatial generosity, seamless indoor-outdoor relationships, and the integration of nature as an essential component of the architectural experience.
