A cool, modernist transformation of a worn-out, ‘30’s era house… in suburban New Jersey?
That’s exactly what the owners of a Medi-Spa practice asked Daedalus Workshop to design for them. They bought the property and house intact and challenged us to create a cool, relaxing setting so they could offer a ‘New York City-style’ Spa experience in their own suburban setting. Now, after a few structural modifications and several mechanical, electrical and plumbing upgrades, residents from nearby communities can avoid the long trek into New York for the latest in skin care, cosmetic, facial and spa treatments.
Fashioned from a 2-story house that was plagued with code violations, an insufficient number of rooms and an awkward layout for a Medi-Spa, the new facility hosts 6 Exam Rooms, 2 Treatment Rooms, Reception and Waiting areas, a Director’s Office, Call Center and small Lab.
A surprisingly serene, modern oasis in a typically suburban setting, the makeover incorporates natural materials, custom furnishings, indirect lighting, and a lot of careful planning to make an old house completely unrecognizable from its former self.
A cool, modernist transformation of a worn-out, 30’s era house in suburban New Jersey?... Absolutely!
