ABA’s $22M renovation and expansion transformed this 1960’s Library into a vibrant center of social and intellectual life at Lafayette College. The 105,000 sf Library remained open during construction. The project integrates information technology and expands collections and library programs. A 35,000 sf addition creates an innovative model for information services at the core of the campus. As a newly important center for campus life, the Library also offers facilities for group study, a café, a gallery, a special events room, and informal meeting spaces. This project reflects the Library’s own programmatic transformation.
Design honors include a Library Building Award from the American Institute of Architects and the American Library Association, an Interior Architecture Honor Award from the AIA, and a Higher Education Design Award from the Boston Society of Architects.
