CONSORTIUM RJDA et CCM2 architectes
Primary school L’Accueil
The objective, when designing this school, was to make it an exemplary project thanks to innovative, bright, flexible spaces for students and teaching staff. In this sense, the consortium made up of the team of Roy Jacques Darisse architects and CCM2 architects, referred to the Real Estate Planning Guide and the architectural signature of the MÉES.
The design team was able to take advantage of the particularities of the site which represented significant challenges for the implementation of the project. Each of the three levels of the building, integrated into the topography, has access to the outside on one level and access to green roofs. The outdoor playgrounds are laid out in trays on the ground and create dynamic and playful spaces conducive to gatherings (game modules, trays with synthetic and asphalt surfaces, snake games and ladders, etc.).
The interior layouts are designed to maximize the intake of natural light, views of the surrounding nature and concentration for the students. The double gymnasium, located in the heart of the building, encourages sports activities. The levels of the project are interrelated for an openness and fluidity of the spaces and the layouts are designed to maximize flexibility with the help of removable partitions and collaborative spaces favoring the holding of various group activities.
The exterior envelope is made up of silver metallic or wood-effect cladding, a masonry basilar and generous fenestration. Interior finishes are bright, playful (colors) and warm (wood).
The solutions developed by the consortium have made it possible to create spaces that fully meet the expectations of the Beauce-Etchemin school service centre. Students, teachers and administrative staff benefit from furnished, versatile, bright, warm and airy spaces which facilitate movement, exchanges, concentration and healthy lifestyle habits.
