Collection Suites Krynica
A Contemporary Mountain Retreat Embedded in the Landscape
Set on a steep wooded hillside in the historic spa town of Krynica-Zdrój, Collection Suites Krynica is a contemporary hospitality project that reinterprets the traditional mountain pension through the lens of Scandinavian minimalism and contextual architecture.
The design is conceived as a series of interconnected volumes carefully terraced into the natural slope. Rather than imposing a singular object onto the site, the building becomes an extension of the landscape, preserving long views toward the mountains while minimizing its visual impact on the surrounding forest and the iconic modernist landmark, Patria.
Architecture Rooted in Topography
The project takes advantage of the site's dramatic elevation changes to organize a layered composition of guest suites, wellness facilities, restaurants, and panoramic terraces. Two principal building masses are connected by a fully glazed central atrium, which acts as the social heart of the complex and frames views of the surrounding mountains.
A generous upper plaza, accessible to both guests and emergency vehicles, creates a calm civic space suspended above the terrain. Below, underground parking is concealed within the slope, allowing the architecture to remain visually light and closely tied to the natural contours of the site.
Materiality and Atmosphere
The material palette is intentionally restrained and timeless:
Scandinavian spruce cladding
Light architectural concrete
Warm beige sandstone
Titanium-zinc standing seam roofs
Large-format glazing
These materials were selected for their ability to weather naturally in the mountain climate and for their subtle dialogue with the region’s traditional architecture.
Hospitality as an Immersive Experience
Collection Suites Krynica combines the intimacy of a boutique pension with the amenities of a luxury resort. The program includes:
Premium guest suites and apartments
A destination restaurant
Wellness and spa facilities
Thermal treatment baths using Krynica mineral water
Indoor pool with mountain views
Reception and lounge areas
Underground parking
The architecture is designed to create a continuous relationship between interior and landscape, where every room opens toward nature and every circulation path is enriched by light, material, and framed vistas.
