The clients initially wanted an apartment in a colonial style. However, during the design process, it became clear that a "historical replica" was not their true desire but rather an expression of their love for Portugal. We lightened and modernized the concept. I incorporated colonial-style decor elements selectively—wall and floor finishes, furniture, and textiles. All of this blended with contemporary elements and, of course, modern functionality.
I also wanted to introduce certain elements of "age" and "estate" into the apartment’s layout. To achieve this, I slightly extended the corridor in the bedroom area, creating the impression of a larger overall space. In the main living area, I designed an enfilade: from the kitchen to the dining room, and from the dining room to the home theater (from the start, the clients preferred a separate dining area and home theater).
