Remodelling and interior design for an 18th Century end of terrace house
We were asked to remodel and open up the ground floor of an existing house. In the original layout, the bathroom and kitchen were to the rear of the house, blocking views to the south-facing garden. This layout also prevented light from entering the centre of the house. We moved the kitchen to the front of the house, introduced full height windows to the sides of the house and removed the intermediate walls. A shower room has been carefully concealed behind a series of bespoke sliding shelves. A subtle material palette is used throughout consisting of a natural walnut parquet, porcelain tiles and a walnut faced plywood. Matt and polished surfaces are manipulated to create depth, reflection, and light.
