Noah’s Ark was selected by the principal as the theme
for the new construction: The Ark as a meeting place
that is open to everyone.
The leitmotif is the impetus for the overall concept of
the facility and accompanies the children both in content
and in the atmosphere. The sweeping structure is suggestive
of a ship’s keel and provides a clear view of the
schoolyard. Along the wall the structure is two-storey
and houses the five-group kindergarten and the nursery
school in the first floor. The four day-care groups are
housed on the top floor, with an extended balcony that
stretches along the entire length of the building all the
way to the terrace like a railing which, like the deck of
a ship, offers additional free space.
The “Ark” is built completely in wood construction. All group rooms face the garden side- in the direction
of Mur- which makes uninterrupted operations possible
for the school and kindergarten.
Inside the building, the development zones in both
levels have been re-purposed through clever zoning to
create additional play and work areas, avoiding corridor
solutions.
The diverse variety of rooms has a positive influence
on the creativity of the children and corresponds to the
ambitious pedagogical concept.
